Let there be Peace in Oju
The Ukpa and Ibilla crisis that rocked Oju LG is a sad story and presents us with more reasons why dialogue is a better option to violence anytime. The wanton destruction of properties including the market which is an economic hub is totally unacceptable. It is however a time for sober reflection to ask ourselves if all of this is worth it. The houses burnt, properties and market will all need mass resources to be put in place.Families have been displayed so children will go out of school, more children and women will be exposed to the harshness of the weather and life. The rains are by the corner, the fate of displaced families are totally left in the hands of God and the mercy of government and philanthropists. This is sure a SAD end.We the Idoma National Forum(Ochetoha k’Idoma) youth wing wish to call on stakeholders ( Traditional, political and religious) to wade into the subject and ensure that peace is totally restored. The global pandemic COVID-19 has placed enough pressure on us all economically, there is absolutely no reason why we should increase the pressure on our selves. We must all embrace forgiveness and make a resolve to live peacefully as ” the price of peace is cheaper than War”.The Ochetoha K’Idoma (YouthWing) plead with all who have recorded losses to find a place in their heart to forgive and give peace a chance bearing in mind that “we are greater together”.Comrade Obande GideonPresident Elect OchetohaK’Idoma (YouthWing) World wide.
