There Will Be No More Nigeria If Ortom Is Assassinated —Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike has described as disturbing the growing trend where lives of incumbent governors are brazenly threatened.

The governor said this while reacting to the attempted murder of his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom, yesterday, by gunmen who supposedly trailed him to a river bank in Tyo Mu along Makurdi-Gboko Road in the Makurdi Local Government Area of the state.
He said the Federal Government would be held accountable if anything happens to Ortom.

Wike, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, said, “If you kill Ortom, then be prepared to bury Nigeria. If anything happens to Governor Ortom, the Federal Government will be held responsible and they should be prepared that there will be no more Nigeria.”
The Rivers governor also recalled how the former General Officer Commanding 6 Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Major General Jamil Sarham, and some APC chieftains had allegedly concluded plan to assassinate him during the 2019 general election
