Prince Harry Might Not Wear Military Uniform For Prince Phillip’s Burial

Prince Harry is expected not to wear a military uniform at his grandfather’s funeral after being stripped of his honorary military positions for quitting his royal duties. The Queen stripped Harry of his role as Captain-General of the Royal Marines, which he took over from Prince Philip, after deciding to quit royal duties last year. The 36-year-old also lost two other honorary military positions.

This means he cannot wear the uniforms at official events, and will likely put on a suit and his medals to Prince Philip’s funeral this coming Saturday.

However, Prince Andrew is another male senior royal who will not wear the military uniform after the Duke of York stepped back from public life in 2019 over his friendship with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

In contrast, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge, and the Earl of Wessex are expected to attend in their own military outfits.

Harry, who is now in the UK for the funeral, will walk shoulder to shoulder to form part of the royal procession at the service for the Duke of Edinburgh in Windsor on Saturday, April 17.

It will be the first time the pair will be seen together since Meghan and Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey – in which he claimed his older brother was ‘trapped’ inside the Monarchy.

The Duke of Edinburgh died on Friday morning, April 9, at Windsor Castle just weeks after being discharged from hospital following a month-long stay.

His funeral will take place next Saturday and will be attended by 30 members of the Royal Family.
