A 20 Year Old Girl Stabbed To Death Next To A School Gate Leaves Students Horrifie

Students at Ekhurhuleni West TVET College have reported that they no longer feel secure after a female student was stabbed to death close outside the school, allegedly by a male student. Mbali Hlongwane, an IT student, was slain on Thursday in Katlehong, fewer than 100 yards from the school’s main gate, in an event that left many horrified.

Her assassination was observed by a vendor selling snacks near campus, who would never forget the horrible scene of a bleeding and injured Hlongwane. Thabo, a street seller near the campus, said the picture of Hlongwane drenched in blood and attempting to stay on her feet despite her injuries will be imprinted in his mind for the rest of his life. “I looked over, and he was stabbing her. She tried to get up and run, but she kept falling. The guy ran away, and I chased him. Me and some other people eventually caught him from where he was hiding. It all happened so fast,” said the vendor.

A news reporter spoke with students outside the university on Tuesday who stated they no longer felt secure after the stabbing. Efforts to receive a response from the college were futile. Nevertheless, on the college’s Facebook page, the SRC expressed condolences to Hlongwane’s family and friends. “We are sad to even release this statement as this has to be one of the most traumatic and hard times for this academic year of 2021. The SRC wishes to send a message of support and condolences to the family of the student and in addition to the student’s fellow classmates, friends and the entire Kathorus Campus student populace,” the message states.

The world is not a safe place as criminal activities drastically increase, one must always look behind their shoulders even when they are taking a random walk, may her soul rest in peace.
