BENUE 2023:-SANKERA STAKEHOLDERS ENDORSE ENGR. ABOUNU FOR GOVERNOR

Stakeholders and elders from Sankera axis, which comprises Katsina-Ala, Ukum and Logo local government areas of Benue State have endorsed Engr. Benson Abounu for the 2023 Benue State governorship election.

The endorsement and blessing were given today, 19th December 2021, in Ugba, Logo local government area of Benue, where Engr Abounu was presented by the leader of the G-9 Caucus, Chief Moses Ajima as the consensus candidate from Benue South.

Zaki Terngu Iorhuna (Tyoor Mbayam), who played host, welcomed the deputy Governor and his entourage to Sankera and assured him of the maximum support of his people given his pedigree and track record in public service.

He stated that Engr. Abounu’s experience, competence and ability to achieve set goals stands him out as the best candidate for the position of the next governor of Benue State.

Logo Council Chairman, Hon Isaac Terseer, who was represented by the Council Secretary, Hon. Aaron Akooma re-echoed the views of Chief Iorhuna. He further stated that apart from his competence, experience and known capacity to deliver, they will also give Engr Abounu their support in the spirit of fairness, equity and justice.

Earlier, Chief Moses Ajima, leader of the caucus of nine local governments from Benue South had passionately appealed to Sankera stakeholders to accept Engr Abounu as their sole candidate because of his competency, wealth of experience and knowledge of the challenges confronting the State and how to confront them.

He told them that Engr. Abounu will not disappoint them if elected governor and appealed to them to allow him to steer the affairs of governance in the state in the spirit of fairness, equity and justice.

In his remarks, Engr Abounu expressed deep appreciation and gratitude to the stakeholders and elders of Sankera for the blessing and endorsement. He chronicled his association with prominent sons and daughters from the axis and promised to make them proud if allowed to serve.

He assured them of an inclusive system of governance where women and youth will constitute 70% of his cabinet, and promised to implement policies that will drive the state to a lofty height, continuing from where Gov. Samuel Ortom will stop in 2023, particularly in the defence of Benue Valley.

The high point of the occasion was the traditional blessing of the deputy governor, where he was blessed and asked to proceed to become the governor of the State.
