Suspected bandits have abducted a prominent petrol dealer, Alhaji Abbas, and his manager, Abubakar Issa, in Gbugbu, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening at about 7:20 p.m. along the Gbugbu–Ndeji Road as the victims were returning home from work
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers, who rode on motorcycles, fired several shots into the air to scare off bystanders before seizing the victims.
Sources told SaharaReporters that the kidnappers also made away with an undisclosed amount of cash and set the victims’ vehicle ablaze before escaping into the bush.
The assailants have reportedly contacted the families of their victims and demanded a ransom of N200 million for the release of the abductees.
This is not the first time Alhaji Abbas has faced such an ordeal, as he reportedly survived a previous attack by bandits in the same area.
