GOV. ALIA SEEKS MORE TIME TO RESPOND TO REP’S N1BN DEFAMATION SUIT

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has asked a Makurdi High Court for more time in the N1 billion defamation suit filed by the member representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency of Benue State, Terseer Ugbor.

Ugbor instituted a N1 billion defamation suit against the governor before the court.

Also joined as co-defendants in the suit marked MHC/422/2024 are the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Tersoo Kula, and Isaac Uzaan, identified in the suit as a media aide to the governor.

When the matter came up, the Director of Civil Litigation from the Benue State Ministry of Justice, J. A. Omenka, announced appearance for Alia.

Omenka asked the court for more time to enable him respond to the processes filed by counsel to Ugbor, Barr. Emmanuel Agbakor.

Agbakor did not object to the application for more time to enable the governor’s counsel respond to the processes filed.

Consequently, the presiding judge, Justice I.N Igoh, adjourned the matter to September 25th, 2025, for hearing of the motion for joinder.
