The Ministry of Justice and Public Order, Benue State, on Monday welcomed its new Attorney General and Commissioner, Professor Timothy Yangien Ornguga, who pledged to strengthen justice delivery while placing staff welfare at the heart of his administration.
Prof. Ornguga, accompanied by his wife, Dr. Bamidele Ornguga, close family, and colleagues, officially took over from the Permanent Secretary, Barr. Thomas Ese, at a ceremony held at the ministry headquarters in Makurdi.
In his first address to staff, the new Commissioner promised a leadership style anchored on transparency, accountability, and teamwork. He assured that training programmes and improved facilities would be rolled out to enhance performance.
“We will work together to move this ministry forward. I expect staff to take their duties seriously, avoid gossip, and remain committed to ensuring justice for the good people of Benue State. My doors will always remain open for your ideas and concerns,” he said.
Prof. Ornguga thanked Governor Hyacinth Alia for entrusting him with the responsibility, describing his return to the ministry as a “homecoming.”
In their goodwill messages, Barr. Ese and other stakeholders, including the Director of Citizens’ Rights, Barr. Ejembi Enikola, and NBA Makurdi Chairman, Barr. Terna Yaji, assured the new Commissioner of full cooperation to help him succeed.
The event ended with a tour of the ministry’s facilities by Prof. Ornguga and senior management staff.
