“IGEDE NATION REJECTS SUBJUGATION: ADRIAHU NY’IGEDE IS A PARAMOUNT RULER, NOT AN ERRAND BOY TO OCH’IDOMA”

The Adirahu Ny’Igede, CP (Rtd.) Oga Ero, is not merely a chief within a council; he is the paramount ruler and ancestral custodian of the entire Igede nation. To subject him to the appearance of subordination under another ethnic institution is to undermine the collective dignity of millions of Igede sons and daughters.

The Igede people are not a branch of Idoma, but a distinct ethnic nationality with their own language, customs, and cultural festivals that predate colonial structures. The Igede throne is not a creation of the Idoma Area Traditional Council, but a sacred stool rooted in the very identity of the Igede nation. Forcing the Adirahu to appear as though he takes instructions like an “errand boy” before the Och’Idoma is a distortion of history and a betrayal of cultural justice.

Respect between traditional rulers is not about domination, but mutual recognition. The Och’Idoma deserves reverence among the Idoma, just as the Adirahu Ny’Igede deserves reverence among the Igede. Neither throne should be belittled, and any arrangement that attempts to reduce one to a subordinate role breeds disunity instead of harmony.

The Igede people will never stand by while their paramount ruler is subjected to symbolic humiliation in the name of tradition. True traditional leadership uplifts, it does not subjugate. It unites, it does not divide. If the Idoma Area Traditional Council cannot recognize this balance, then it must be called out for perpetuating an unjust hierarchy.

The Adirahu Ny’Igede represents the pride, history, and destiny of the Igede nation. To diminish his stool is to diminish the Igede people themselves—something that will never be accepted.
