There was pandemonium in Orokam, Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State, as eagle-eyed police operatives smashed a notorious robbery syndicate that has been terrorising communities across Benue and Enugu.
Three suspects — Mujahid Mohammed (21), Yahaya Abdullahi (21), and Kalipha Mohammed (28), all from Mararaba, Nyanya, Abuja — were dramatically intercepted on August 31, 2025, at Orokam Junction along Obollo Afor Road during a routine stop-and-search.
The patrol team uncovered a shocking stash: 34 stolen mobile phones, three HP laptops, and two MP3 players stuffed in a bag. Under interrogation, the men sang like canaries, confessing to a string of bloody robberies in Nsukka, where they raided six flats in Umukasi and ten flats in St. Theresa area.
But in a dramatic twist, the gang’s dreaded leader, Abba Mohammed (27), narrowly escaped the dragnet, vanishing with the group’s weapons. Police say a manhunt is underway with joint forces from Enugu and Gombe to smoke him out.
Benue Commissioner of Police, CP Emenari Ifeanyi, hailed the patrol team’s courage, warning that criminals will meet their Waterloo in Benue. He urged residents to stay alert and feed the police with timely intelligence, stressing: “We will not rest until every last hoodlum is flushed out.”
