A young woman who relocated from Ghana to Nigeria in hopes of building a future with her Tiv lover has been left stranded after months of sacrifice.
The relationship began online and quickly grew into a serious commitment, convincing the lady to leave Ghana for Abuja without a formal marriage. Upon arrival, her partner sent her to his family home in Gboko, Benue State, where she spent over six months assisting with farming activities.
She reportedly worked tirelessly from morning till evening, hoping to prove herself to her would-be mother-in-law and support the man she loved. At harvest, however, the man sold the farm produce and allegedly told her never to return to Abuja or his family due to a misunderstanding.
The woman claims she invested her own money to support him in securing work and business opportunities before moving to the village. She later discovered that he had abandoned her and was preparing to wed another woman.
Now in distress, the lady is appealing for compensation from the proceeds of the farm she labored on, saying it would enable her to restart her life. A single mother, she says she only wished to settle down and build a stable family, but has instead been left heartbroken and betrayed.
