Sowore tałk nonsensė when paid, my children are citizens of America” – Wike slams activist in personal attack
During a heated public exchange, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike lashed out at activist Omoyele Sowore, accusing him of being a corrupt political tool. This latest salvo came in response to Sowore’s repeated allegations of land grabbing and corruption against Wike and his family. The feud, which has been escalating in recent weeks, reached a new low when Wike reportedly made personal comments during a media appearance, questioning Sowore’s integrity and referencing his American family.
In a video that has since gone viral, Wike was quoted as saying, “When they pay bribes to people like Omoyele Sowore, he will be talking. My wife is an American, my children are Americans”. These remarks have been widely interpreted as an attempt to discredit Sowore’s allegations by portraying him as someone motivated by financial gain.
Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, and others have alleged that Wike and his family have been involved in the illegal allocation of land in Abuja, with some reports specifically mentioning Wike’s wife and children in connection with alleged property acquisitions in the US.
The clash became more personal when Wike made the remarks about Sowore’s family, prompting a strong reaction from Sowore, who has since called on US authorities to investigate the source of funds for Wike’s alleged US properties.
The ongoing back-and-forth between Wike and Sowore has become a major topic of discussion in Nigerian political circles and on social media, fueling debate about public accountability and the use of inflammatory rhetoric by public figures
