FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has stated that he will not be deterred by public criticism or blackmail, asserting that his focus is on delivering on his mandate for President Bola Tinubu and satisfying God. He made these remarks during a flag-off ceremony for road construction in the Mabushi District of Abuja.

Wike dismissed the influence of blackmail, calling it a common political tool that will not sway his actions. He described his resolve as “thick” and “strong,” stating he is not worried by internet commentary or criticism.

He clarified that his primary motivation is to please God and deliver on the agenda set by President Tinubu. He stated that the only time he would be concerned about his performance is if the President expresses dissatisfaction.

The Minister pushed back against contractors and special interest groups he accuses of attempting to dictate the government’s priorities. He emphasized that the administration, representing the President, will determine what is most important for the FCT.

Wike reaffirmed his administration’s focus on essential infrastructure and social amenities, pointing to the road projects as proof of his commitment to the needs of FCT residents. He also referenced previous issues with local contractors and corruption in contract awards, vowing to defeat corruption.

He concluded by saying that he does not seek popularity but rather tangible results that improve the lives of residents, such as improved roads, schools, and hospitals.
