Benue State government has pledged to prioritize and provide quality education for the Benue child.

 

Commissioner for education and knowledge management Mrs Margaret Adamu, who made the pledge during a Familiarization and need assessment visit to government secondary schools in zone A senatorial district ,said adequate education is a yardstick to bring out potential of Benue child for a better future.

Mrs Adamu also argued that Infrastructural facilities are vital components of education that enable teachers to perform optimally for learners to attain their potentials

She added that the project which is tagged the Alia legacy project was keen towards ensuring that the little ones have their hopes and future secured , saying that the Governor Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia has chosen education as a tool to reach out to the generality of the Benue populace.

Permanent secretary of the ministry Mrs Helen Nemtiv Zelemo, implored the people of the communities to give maximum support and cooperation to enable timely and effective delivery of the project in their communities

Chairman Ushongo local government Mr Theophilus Azu while acknowledging the visit of the commissioner appealed to government to provide title paper for the schools and other government land so as to avert encroachment by communitant

Speaking separately, Principal Government Secondary School Vandeikya Mr Gum Solomon and principal government secondary school Lessel Mrs Janeth Akosu , All decried the dilapidated nature of the schools, lack of electricity, water and shortage of staff, while commending the Governor for the laudable projects in the schools

On his part, a Consultant with Durable consult limited Mr Gideon Agber says the project which will commence with immediate effect includes fencing, gate house , building of classroom blocks, male and female domentries, laboratories, libraries, clinic administrative blocks

Reacting on behalf of elders of Lessel Zaki Alexander Aharikpa, commended Governor Alia for bringing such project to the community and pledged their support for the Governor in the forthcoming election
