JICA Team Arrives Benue to Boost STEM Education in Public Schools
A delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has arrived in the state to kick-start the establishment of facilities that will promote STEM education and skills development in public schools.
Led by SUBEB Executive Chairman, Dr. Grace Adagba, the team paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Dr. Margaret Ijaguwa Adamu, to brief her on their mission.
JICA Consultant Kenji Kawazoe, alongside a team of architects, said they were in the state to conduct environmental assessments of selected schools for appropriate facility design. Program Coordinator Stephen Nwanya explained that the grant-aid project will focus on infrastructure, ICT equipment, and vocational training to strengthen STEM education.
Dr. Adamu appreciated Governor Hyacinth Alia’s support for the education sector and commended Dr. Adagba for attracting international partnerships. She assured the delegation of government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for the project.
