Falz calls for Tinubu’s resignation over worsening insecurity, quotes his own 2014 Tweet

Popular Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, has asked President Bola Tinubu to step down immediately, citing the president’s inability to protect Nigerians.

His demand follows two tragic incidents: the abduction of 25 schoolgirls from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, and the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba by terrorists in Borno State.

In a strongly worded post on X on November 19, 2025, Falz reminded the president of his own words from November 6, 2014, when Tinubu, then an opposition leader, had called on President Goodluck Jonathan to resign for failing to tackle insecurity and protect citizens.

Falz quoted Tinubu’s old tweet verbatim and added: “You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!”

The fresh wave of attacks has reignited public anger, with many Nigerians pointing out that the same reasons Tinubu used to criticise the previous administration now apply to his own government.

Falz’s call has quickly gained traction online and added to the growing pressure on the presidency to address the country’s deteriorating security situation.
