Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has dismissed claims of a targeted Christian genocide in the country.
Addressing repots of widespread attacks on Christians in Nigeria during an appearance on the Piers Morgan Show, Tuggar pointed to the example of Benue State Governor, saying he’s as a Catholic priest and a man of faith.
“The governor of Benue State happens to be a man of the cloth. He’s a reverend father. He’s a Catholic. So you can see how it is not impossible for him to be concealing what is happening,” Tuggar said.
He added, “He would be screaming at the top of his voice if indeed there was some genocide or if there was some specific calculated targeting of Muslims, of Christians. But he knows there isn’t. And that is why he is not doing so.”
