Operatives of the Benue Police Command have successfully repelled an armed bandits’ attack targeting vehicles along Adoka Road, rescuing passengers who were stranded by the assailants.
According to Zagazola Makama, sources disclosed that at about 00:30 hours on Wednesday, armed bandits attacked vehicles with passengers along the route. The DPO promptly mobilized patrol teams alongside tactical units within the area to intercept the assailants.
Upon arrival, officers engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to flee into the bush and abandon the victims.
The stranded passengers were immediately rescued and brought to the police station for safety. Some of the victims sustained injuries and were rushed to St. Charles Hospital, Adoka, for medical treatment.
Sources stated that combing operations of the nearby bushes are ongoing to track the bandits and affect their arrest, while the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) continues to investigate the incident.
The sources said that the Command assured residents of continued vigilance along major roads and urged motorists to report suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
