Chief Williams Obande Emerges President as Och’Idoma Inaugurates Idoma Community in the United Kingdom

The Idoma community in the United Kingdom has taken a significant step toward strengthening unity and cultural identity abroad as His Royal Majesty, Agaba’Idu, Elaigwu Odogbo John, Ph.D., the Och’Idoma and Paramount Ruler of the Idoma Kingdom, officially inaugurated the Executive Council of the Idoma Community UK.

At the historic event, Chief Dr. Williams Obande Obeya, a House of Representatives aspirant, emerged as the President of the Idoma Community United Kingdom, marking the beginning of a new leadership phase for the community in the diaspora.

Presiding over the ceremony, the Och’Idoma emphasized the importance of unity, cooperation, and cultural preservation among Idoma sons and daughters living outside Nigeria. He charged the newly inaugurated executives to work diligently in promoting the welfare and collective interests of the Idoma people in the United Kingdom.

In his acceptance speech, President Chief Dr. Williams Obande Obeya pledged that the newly inaugurated council would prioritize unity, transparency, and inclusive participation in all its activities. He assured members that the leadership would work to strengthen bonds within the community while promoting Idoma culture and heritage in the diaspora.

The new president also announced that August 8, 2026, has been fixed as the date for the next Idoma Day celebration in the United Kingdom, an event expected to bring together Idoma sons and daughters from across the UK to celebrate their rich cultural heritage.

The inauguration marks a major milestone for the Idoma community in the diaspora as they continue to organize and promote their identity while contributing positively to their host country.
