Hon. Amb. Lilian Adoyi-Ofiebor Joins PDP, Declares It Is Ohimini’s Turn for Federal Representation

 

Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, Benue State — Hon. Amb. Lilian Adoyi-Ofiebor has formally announced her decision to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s grassroots orientation and commitment to service, representation and inclusive governance.

In a statement addressed to the people of Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, Adoyi-Ofiebor said the decision followed careful reflection on the political realities of the constituency and her conviction that the aspirations of the people are best served by a platform that respects the ballot and the principles of democratic representation.

She referenced Article 21 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which recognizes the freely expressed will of the people through genuine elections as the foundation of legitimate governance. She also cited Abraham Lincoln’s description of democracy as government “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”

According to her, the people must retain the right to freely choose those who represent them at all levels of government.

A major point raised in her declaration was the longstanding zoning arrangement between Otukpo and Ohimini, which she described as more than a political arrangement, but a covenant designed to promote fairness, unity and mutual respect between the two communities.

Adoyi-Ofiebor therefore declared her belief that “this is the turn for an Ohimini son or daughter to represent our people in the Federal House of Representatives.”

She stressed that her political journey is not driven solely by personal ambition but by a desire to promote equity, inclusion and purposeful leadership, while ensuring that every community within the constituency feels represented and valued.

The PDP entrant also expressed appreciation to individuals, groups and stakeholders who have supported and encouraged her political journey, promising to work with all stakeholders toward a new era of representation anchored on accessibility, equity, fairness, integrity and purposeful service.

She called on the people of Otukpo/Ohimini to unite in building a stronger constituency where their voices are heard, their interests protected and their hopes for the future renewed.

Under her campaign message, “Vote for a Better Future,” Adoyi-Ofiebor highlighted four key areas of focus: Safety, Health, Education and Employment.

“Let us build better lives together,” she declared.
