REJOINDER TO HON. TERVER GBENDA’S RECKLESS INSULT ON THE IDOMA NATION IN OTUKPO

I, Comrade Magaji Mike Alidu, President, OchetohaK’Idoma Youth Wing Worldwide, speak with deep pain, anger and total disappointment over the rascality, threat and unjust behaviour displayed by Hon. Terver Gbenda, the SSA to the Executive Governor of Benue State on Illegal Levies and Support Groups.

We received his outing in Otukpo with shock. How can a Governor’s aide leave his comfort zone in Makurdi, come to Otukpo, and indiscriminately warn and threaten Idoma Youths, thinking he can force the entire Benue South to support Governor Hyacinth Alia?

This is not only reckless, it is an insult to our sensibilities as a people. We feel deeply insulted, belittled and provoked by this action.

ZONE C IS NOT A CONQUERED TERRITORY.

Let Hon. Gbenda and his sponsors be reminded that Zone C is not a conquered territory and we will NEVER be threatened by anybody, no matter how highly placed. Idoma Nation is a great Nation. We have more than enough in Benue South. We have the best manpower in the State, the most educated and industrious people, and the highest mineral deposits including Oil and Gas, Limestone, Coal and many others. We are not and can never be considered less privileged for people to talk down on us anyhow they feel.

WARNING TO OUR LOCAL CHAIRMEN AND GULLIBLE YOUTHS:

We have taken note of our Local Government Chairmen and some gullible youths who encouraged, clapped for, and aided Hon. Gbenda to insult us so recklessly in our own land. This betrayal will not be forgotten. When the time comes, they will have themselves to blame. History will record that they invited an outsider to humiliate their own people. We warn them to desist from such sycophancy and cheap politics.

OUR POLITICAL CONSEQUENCES:

Let it be clear that any word from a Governor’s appointee is considered a direct message from the Governor and the Government of Benue State. Therefore we hold the Government of Benue State responsible for this insult.

If Hon. Terver Gbenda does not tender an unreserved public apology to the good people of Benue South within THREE (3) DAYS, the following political consequences will follow:
1. We, the OchetohaK’Idoma Youth Wing Worldwide, will openly declare Governor Hyacinth Alia and his administration as an enemy of Zone C. 2. We will immediately commence statewide consultations to invite all the closest Governorship opponents of Governor Alia, screen them, endorse ONE credible candidate and work day and night to ensure he wins massively in all 9 Local Governments of Benue South. 3. We will mobilize our entire structure at home and in diaspora to embark on aggressive voter sensitization to prove that our voting strength is NOTHING to be joked with. 4. We will ensure that any political structure loyal to Hon. Gbenda and his collaborators in Zone C is completely dismantled and rejected at the polls. 5. We will present a comprehensive scorecard of the colossal neglect of Zone C by this administration – no roads, no development, no appointments, unlike Zone A and Zone B – and use it to campaign against the government.
We are already angry over the deliberate refusal to develop our place. This insult has only added fuel to fire.

We dare Hon. Gbenda not to retract his steps and apologize. If he fails, we will do the needful within a reasonable time and he will see that the Idoma Nation cannot be intimidated.
