Following his endorsement by
elders and stakeholders of Sankera geopolitical zone upon his presentation to them by elders and stakeholders of Benue South Senatorial District, Benue the State Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu was today, Wednesday 22nd December 2021 presented to, and warmly received by elders and stakeholders from the Tiv speaking 14 local government areas (G-14) of the state.
He was presented by Chief Moses Ajima, Chairman of G-9; the council of elders from the 9 local government areas of Benue South Senatorial District, and accompanied by the 9 council chairmen, and stakeholders from the zone.
The event was held at Doo Palace Hotel, Makurdi.
Chief Ajima, who called on the people of Zone A and B to try Engr. Abounu as governor described him as a good product, who has been tested and found very capable. He said Engr. Abounu would not disappoint the Benue people if he is given the responsibility of governing the state.
Engr. Abounu called on the stakeholders and people of the state to try him and see, assuring that he will never fail them as governor of the state. According to him, he cannot afford to fail, as doing so would mean his impeachment by the State House of Assembly.
He said the Benue people should try him for just 4 years, and see what he would do, explaining that he is not coming to learn on the job, but is rather coming up with a blueprint that will address the problems confronting the state.
The chairman of G-14, Elder Lahar Dzever welcomed the Benue South delegation and extolled the competence, experience and capacity of Engr. Abounu to deliver on critical assignments. He said the state needs someone with his type of experience to steer her out of the woods, and assured him that when the time comes, the leaders and elders of the two zones shall sit and look at all the aspirants to take a good decision on who can best do the job.
There were goodwill messages from Chief T. Jem Tor-Anyiin and Elder Uppah, all attesting to the competence and experience of Engr. Abounu
