MRS GEORGE ALLI FLAGS OFF FREE NETS

In order to stem the menace of mosquito bites in Otukpo local Government Area, Wife of the Executive Chairman, Mrs Zainab Alli today flagged off the distribution of Long Lasting Insecticide Mosquito Nets with a charge to the people to judiciously put them to use.

The Otukpo First Lady who decried the dreaddy nature of mosquitoes gave the charge at the local government Council Secretariat saying, “prevention is better than cure”.

Mrs Alli used the occasion to thanked the First Lady of Benue State, Dr (Mrs) Eunice Ortom for her contribution towards the actualization of the programme.

Without the colossal efforts of the State First Lady, the Otukpo local government Chairman’s wife disclosed, the event wouldn’t have been possible.

She prayed to God to continue to bless the First Lady and her husband, the Executive Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom saying that they were Special gifts to humanity.

She also commended her husband, Chief George Alli for working assiduously for the common good of his people.

In her speech, the Supervisory Councillor for Health and Human Services Otukpo local government Council, Honourable Ene Yusuf thanked the State First Lady Dr (Mrs) Eunice Ortom and wife of the Executive Chairman of Otukpo local government, Mrs Zainab Alli as well as the donor of the mosquito nets for their kind gestures which culminated into the distribution of the nets.

She also commended both the state and local governments for constantly coming to the aid of the people in meeting their health needs.

In his remarks, the Paramount ruler of the Otukpo Kingdom, Dr John Eimonye called for judicious utilization of the nets warning that anyone found misusing the nets would be penalized.

According to the royal father, “Some people will collect it and use it to cover their farms and do other things with it. These nets are expensive yet they gave them to us free of charge. We should make good use of it. It is for our good”.
