Fresh Boko Haram attacks: “I notified Nigerian military but my request was ignored” – Borno Governor Zulum
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has expressed significant dissatisfaction with the Nigerian military’s response to recent Boko Haram attacks and the overall security situation in the state, stating that the renewed attacks are happening “without confrontation” and that the state is “losing ground.”
He has stated that the “renewed Boko Haram attacks and kidnappings in many communities almost on a daily basis without confrontation signalled that Borno State is losing ground.”
He listed several recent attacks and the dislodgement of military formations as cause for concern.
Following an attack on his convoy in Baga, Zulum publicly confronted the military, expressing disappointment and even threatening to recommend the redeployment of troops if they could not take over a town just 5 km from their base.
