BREAKING: BSU Mass Communication Graduate, Others Reportedly Kidnapped En Route Ondo NYSC Camp, ₦50m Ransom Demanded
A graduate of the Department of Mass Communication, Benue State University, Makurdi, Ibi Bemdoo Philip, has reportedly been kidnapped alongside other passengers while travelling from Benue State to Ondo State for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp.
Philip, popularly called “The Wise Man” by friends, reportedly left Benue State about two days ago aboard a Benue Links Nig. Ltd. vehicle for his NYSC orientation programme.
According to a message appealing for his rescue, Philip became unreachable after the journey commenced until he reportedly contacted his course representative this morning using a telephone number belonging to his alleged abductors.
He reportedly informed the course representative that he and other passengers had been kidnapped.
The abductors are said to be demanding a ₦50 million ransom for their release.
The development has sparked concern among his colleagues, friends and family members, who are appealing to the relevant authorities to urgently intervene and secure the safe release of the victims.
The appeal was directed to the Federal Government of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army and other relevant security agencies, urging them to take immediate action to locate the victims and bring them home safely.
The circumstances surrounding the reported abduction, including the exact location where the vehicle was intercepted and the number of persons abducted, were not immediately clear at the time of filing this report.
Authorities are expected to provide further information as efforts to establish contact with the victims and secure their release continue.
