ALGON Chairman Benue State, the Chairman of Guma LGA, Hon Caleb Aba; ALGON Vice Chairman Benue State and Chairman of Otukpo LGA, Rt. Hon. George Alli, and the Chairman of Katsina-Ala LGA, Hon. Orya Atera, on Wednesday attended the General Assembly Meeting of Association Of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in Abuja.

At the meeting which held in Abuja, the newly elected ALGON President, Hon. Ambali Olatunji said the union will pursue the local government scheme of service as well as ensure the prompt resolution of all issues relating to Local Government automony and intensify reconciliatory effort for sustainable peace within the union.

During he general assembly meeting which was tagged: ‘Strategic Positioning For The Future’, the following were re-elected for another term in office. (The National Executive Council Members) include:

1. Hon. Ambali Olatunji: National President.
2. Hon.Shehu Jega: Deputy National President.
3.Hon. Solomon Izuchukuu Onah: Secretary.
4 Hon. Aminu Muazu
5.Hon. Kia Ebidoughebofa
6. Hon. (Dr) Taofiq isah.

The three Local Lovernment Council Chairmen from Benue State wished the newly elected executive a peaceful reign and prayed God to grant them the wisdom to move the union forward.

The Otukpo Council Chairman, Rt. Hon Geroge Alli attended the general assembly meeting as the longest serving local government chairman in Nigeria currently. Haven been in office, first as Sole Administrator in September 2016, and later elected Chairman in June 2017. He was also appointed as Caretaker Chairman from June to December 2019, before being reelected for the second time as Chairman of Otukpo LG in June 2020.
