On Friday, July 11, 2025, a 23-year-old woman identified as Grace Godwin, also known as Ilewa, was kidnapped and murdered by suspected “one-chance” operators in the Jabi area of Abuja, Nigeria.
Grace, originally from Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, was living and working in Abuja as a filling station attendant. While returning from work on that fateful day, she unknowingly boarded a vehicle operated by kidnappers.
According to reports, the kidnappers robbed her and contacted her family, demanding a ransom of ₦1 million for her release. It remains unclear whether the ransom was paid or if negotiations were still ongoing.
Tragically, Grace was killed by her abductors. Her lifeless body was found by the roadside in Jabi early the next morning, around 6:00 a.m. Police were alerted and rushed her to the hospital, but she was confirmed dead on arrival.
Following the news, some social media users speculated that she was a victim of a hookup gone wrong or ritual killing. However, her family and friends have strongly refuted those claims, insisting that Grace was a hardworking woman who was simply returning from work.
