Zone XI Police in Osun have arrested Emmanuel Odeh, a fake lawyer who allegedly defrauded clients of over ₦50 million by practicing for nearly 10 years.
Odeh, who used the alias A.O. Emmanuel, was arrested on August 28, 2025, inside a courthouse in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he was representing a client.
His arrest was prompted by a victim who grew suspicious and asked to see his “Call to Bar” certificate.
Odeh confessed that he is actually a 400-level law student at Benue State University. The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) condemned his actions, calling them a “serious stain on the legal profession.”
He is currently in custody and facing charges of impersonation and fraud. Authorities are urging the public to verify the credentials of lawyers to avoid being scammed.
