The Nasarawa State Police Command has intercepted a major cache of firearms in Keana, a border community with Benue State.
Commissioner of Police, Shettima Jauro, said the operation, based on intelligence, forced suspects to abandon their luggage and flee.
Recovered items include four AK-49 rifles, three AK-47s, a G3 rifle, a submachine gun, 11 magazines, over 4,000 rounds of ammunition, and 75 cartridges.
Within one week, police also arrested nine suspects, seized 38 firearms, over 4,000 rounds of ammunition, and a vehicle.
Other arrests were made in Akwanga and Lafia, where suspects were caught with locally made guns, revolvers, machetes, swords, police uniforms, and tools for gun production.
CP Jauro assured residents that the Command is intensifying efforts to flush out criminals and keep the state safe.
