Another heartbreaking tragedy has struck the Igede community.
Solomon Ode Ogbaji, a young man from Ohuhu in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State, has been found dead at Eko Atlantic in Lagos.
According to eyewitness accounts, security operatives allegedly mistook him for a thief attempting to steal iron rods from a construction site. Despite his repeated pleas of innocence, he was reportedly beaten until he lost his life.
Ogbaji, who was simply on his way to work, was wrongly accused of being part of the group involved in the theft. He was never given a chance to defend himself. His body was discovered near the waterfront four days after the incident.
The incident has sparked outrage and grief within his community, raising once again painful questions about brutality, profiling, and justice in Nigeria.
