Owukpa-Born Undergraduate, Maria Favour Onyowoicho, Crowned Face of NAIS Nigeria

Idoko Maria Favour Onyowoicho, a 200-level student of the English Department at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, has emerged as the winner of the prestigious Face of NAIS Nigeria (National Association of Idoma Students).

Maria Favour, an indigene of Owukpa in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, distinguished herself among contestants and proudly flew the flag of the Idoma nation to clinch the coveted title.

Born into a family of seven, Maria began her educational journey at Redeemer Nursery and Primary School, Ankpa, Kogi State, before proceeding to Our Lady of Fatima Girls Secondary School, Aidogodo, Okpoga, Benue State. She is currently pursuing a degree in English at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi.

A devoted Christian and practicing Catholic, Maria actively serves as a chorister in her church. She is passionate about singing and dancing, which reflect her vibrant personality, confidence, and love for self-expression.

Speaking on her emergence as the Face of NAIS Nigeria, Maria expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent the Idoma people and promote their rich cultural heritage.

“As the Face of the National Association of Idoma Students, Nigeria, I am honored to represent my people with pride, culture, and excellence,” she stated.

Her victory has been widely celebrated by students, friends, and supporters across Idoma land, who view her achievement as a source of inspiration for young people aspiring to excel in academics, leadership, and cultural representation.
