Student Reportedly Kidnapped From Hostel at University of Lafia as NAIS Calls for Immediate Action

The National Association of Idoma Students (NAIS) has called on relevant security agencies and authorities to take urgent action following the reported abduction of one of its members at the University of Lafia.

According to information made available to the association, the incident reportedly occurred at about 8:00 p.m. on Sunday when the student was allegedly kidnapped from her hostel within the university community.

The victim has been identified as Esther Godwin, an indigene of Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.

Speaking on the development, the National President of the National Association of Idoma Students (NAIS), Comrade Saduwana Sunday Ochoyoda, said he received a distress call from the university community shortly after the incident.

He described the reported abduction as deeply disturbing and appealed to all relevant security agencies to act swiftly to ensure the student’s safe rescue.

“We are calling on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and all relevant security agencies to immediately swing into action and ensure the safe release of our sister, Esther Godwin. We also urge anyone with useful information that could assist in her rescue to report to the appropriate authorities,” he said.

Comrade Ochoyoda further assured members of the association that NAIS is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to engage the relevant authorities until the student is safely reunited with her family.

The association also appealed to the University of Lafia management to work closely with security agencies in efforts to secure Esther’s release and strengthen security measures to protect students on campus.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the University of Lafia management or security agencies regarding the reported incident.
