Turan youths on Wednesday set fire to the residence and office of the Mue Ter Ichongo, HRH Simon Baver, following the killing that occurred on Tuesday in Jato-Aka, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.
Eyewitnesses reported that a large crowd of youths gathered at both locations before setting them ablaze. The assailants dispersed after destroying several items.
Security personnel later moved to the scene to restore calm. There were no immediate reports of casualties within the affected properties.
Authorities confirmed that investigations into the circumstances surrounding the Jato-Aka killing and the subsequent unrest were underway. Community leaders have appealed for calm and urged residents to allow security agencies to conduct their inquiries without further disruption.
